Resurrection and Redemption
The Resurrection in the Catholic/Christian world is the most important holiday, more than Christmas. The Resurrection is the whole foundation of the Catholic faith: that Jesus died on the Cross and redeemed the world.
In his Urbi et Orbi, the Pope spoke of the Risen Christ. He gave his comment on the state of the world, particularly the many crisis in Africa, in Iraq, in Iran, in Asia. He concluded his annual address saying: “Christ is risen - Christós anésti.” Let the people of the third millennium not be afraid to open their hearts to him. His Gospel totally quenches the thirst for peace and happiness that is found in every human heart. Christ is now alive and he walks with us. What an immense mystery of love!
No matter what Faith one believes in, people lament that there is much suffering in the world. People die of hunger and thirst and, bad things happen to good people. Perhaps one way of looking at it is in a positive light. Redemption gives us an opportunity to make it a better world.
